About Me

Hi There! I'm Felicia. I'm a wife, a sister, a daughter, a friend, a mum-to-be, a career person and maybe some might say a entrepreneurial business owner. It’s no accident that I was named Felicia and many who know me would probably tell you I certainly live up to and OWN my name! My concept for this blog is as it says - "BEING" and "HAPPY" because when we are BEING or let things BE, then I would say we're generally pretty HAPPY :) and why not be happy with just being happy? LOVE THAT! I wanted to create a space for myself to be able to express freely and share with the world what inspires me and how I’ve come to create a continuous happy life for myself. You’ll probably learn a great deal about my own life as I blog! Life certainly isn’t perfect and I have for sure had my fair share of downs as well as ups. I do hope to share with you the joy of practising mindfulness, being grateful and loving to create more happiness and flow and perhaps inspire you too! Enjoy!

Just Let Go - peeling off another layer

In one's life, just as we think we had it sorted, we discover there's another 'layer on the onion' that we need to peel off which allows us to relearn a lesson we once learnt.

Have you ever found that to be true for any part of your life?

I feel like I'm constantly learning to 'let go' or perhaps it's just a gentle reminder that life is much better once I let go of whatever might be holding me back so that I can be happy again - or just happier!

My baby 9 weeks old (yep 4weeks since my last post) and I know I haven't kept up with my blogging! I have had every intention to continue to write weekly and when I haven't since I had my son, I was getting a little stressed out, like I was letting someone (myself?) down, putting extra pressure on myself and then feeling overwhelmed! Just imagine how happy I was feeling while I was going through the motions of these thoughts. Not very.

After talking to a friend, she made me realise I was being too hard in myself - taking care of a newborn AND learning a new skill/job being a parent is more than a full-time job, it's a 24/7 thing! Couldn't I be kinder to myself, show me a little more
Self-Love?

I just had to LET GO of all the ideas of what I thought life would be like once I had a baby, let go of what I thought I might be able to do/achieve in one day! Once that happened, it's like a weight was lifted off my shoulders! What a relief, hello HAPPINESS!

How about you? What can you let go of in your life? What thoughts can you let go of? Not sure? Perhaps think of something that has been really bothering you. Then ask yourself, does it matter? Or how much does it matter? Next, give yourself permission to choose to LET GO - or you can choose to still hold on to the baggage! If you choose to hold on to any baggage and thoughts that come with, just check in to see what it's doing to your Heath, your Relationship with others - is that how you want to live? A life full of grudges and downhill spiral of thoughts? Are you FEELING ALIVE or sad/angry/upset/disappointed?

JUST LET GO! And a new layer of HAPPINESS begins!

Change starts with YOU!

I love Gandi's quote - and love being reminded of it!

Whenever I catch myself of my thoughts in a situation or my reaction to a situation or person (you know, when you're being mindful...) - it's good to be reminded of this little quote. Usually if we're feeling a bit frustrated at something or feel that 'wish' that person would change - well guess what?  The only person who can change is YOU!

You've heard of the saying "you can bring a horse to water, but you can't make it drink" - well that applies pretty much all the time if you're wanting someone else to change to suit you - you're probably the one who needs to drink the water! haha...

All that needs to happen is that you have to acknowledge that YOU have a CHOICE and that choice might be change! Whether that be changing your perspective, being more compassionate, seeing a different angle, showing kindness, being even more grateful than you already are!

Ever heard of a Chain Reaction? These little shifts is what will start your own chain reaction IN you. One little small step, change or shift is all that you probably need and pretty soon, you're onwards to a happier, healthier You. Pretty soon, others will soon notice the change IN you without you having the need to be noticed.

All you need to do is just BE who you want to be - wholesome, loving, kind, compassionate, broadminded, appreciate etc. and the rest will follow.  You'll soon see a change in yourself and wondered why you didn't see the goodness in the first place! :)

Be the Change You wish to see in the world....

Day 18: "30 Day Gratitude Challenge"

Day 18: Today I'm grateful for my friend's happiness

This afternoon I caught up with a friend who came down to visit and I am so very happy for her how her life has turned around and she's happy where she is in her life right now, who she's attracted into her life and how she's loving her new situation/life, space, love and the people she's surrounded with.

Sometimes we find happiness in seeing other people BEING HAPPY.

Who are you happy for today? Sometimes we just need to give out love in order to feel the LOVE ;)

Personal Responsibility

I absolutely LOVE this!

Oprah is definitely one of my many inspirations :)  and she couldn't have said it better.

How often might you be putting the blame on someone else?  (saying it's not your fault?). Perhaps you're not being responsible for your own feelings?  Do you complain or make excuses for something unpleasant happening?  or have excuses why something hasn't  happened yet?  Perhaps you play the victim... ALOT!? "bad things always happen to me....".  If ANY of these things sound familiar - then you're definitely not taking any personal responsibility!

I'm not perfect.  I will admit to the fact that I too am not always BEING PERSONALLY RESPONSIBLE for my actions, reactions and outcomes - but when I don't, where do you think does that leave me? Downright unhappy! I feel out of control and powerless.

Just the other day, my husband pointed out to me how I wasn't being personally responsible for my response (I was blaming someone here...) - I just loved that he did that, because it made me step up in that moment, reassess what I had just said and gave me another opportunity to change - for the better :)  Take action and make the decision to BE personally responsible.

It sure does take practice - but a little bit of mindfulness will help along the way ;) Go on! Take some responsibility! Be personally responsible for YOUR actions, what you do in your life, your intentions, the way you react in a situation, respond in a conversation, the outcomes and what you attract.

By practising being responsible for ourselves, we also have to remember, we are not responsible for others. How someone reacts or acts, is their decision, if someone gets upset by something you said (so long as you said it with good intentions), you are not responsible for their feelings.  They CHOOSE to feel that way. If you try to be responsible for someone else, you actually allowing them not to be personally responsible for themselves!  Think about that.... you allow them to play the victim again and again and you begin to burden yourselves with other people's problems - and where would that leave you?

When you learn to take some personal responsibility, you'll soon realise you have so many more choices - after all YOU are responsible for your own HAPPINESS!

We become more accepting and we begin to forgive ourselves and others, thus creating more love around us. We learn to let go of things we can't control and everything becomes EEEEASY!!! :)

Would love to hear your personal stories on how you're taking some personal responsibility, so please feel free to comment below!

Spring Clean for Renewed Energy Flow

I love this as my inspiration today.

Because it's true.  We all have choices, so when you get stuck in a rutt and you think you just don't have a choice, well guess what?  You actually do!  Simply put - choose a different way/method/path/mindset.  It's YOUR choice to be happy :)

After some Sunday night reflection last night, I kinda realised I'm becoming a bit out of 'flow', like blocked-energy or something.  My body was starting to ache, I wasn't really being productive or getting anything done.... and then I realised, there's a bit of an energy block!  The house is in a bit of a schamozzle, my work desk was cramped full of paperwork, receipts, bills to be paid all looking a bit untidy and unorderly - lots of CLUTTER!

Heard of Feng Shui?  I'm not overly superstitious, but I like to take part in this now and again. One part of of Feng Shui is about the placement of things to create good positive flow in one's life/home to bring in good fortune.  In my case, I had created 'bad' feng shui with all this clutter!  It's no wonder I was procrastinating in doing any work and unconsciously my mind was just a bit frazzled!

So I woke up this morning and CHOSE to do something about it .  To feel energised and put me in a good mood, I went to my first pre-natal yoga class (yoga is an excellent way to stretch out, strengthen AND relax the body). Came home, Feeling good!

Next up, I was up for the task to de-clutter the house so that we would have better energy flow - cleaning up the house and tidying up my workspace.  Now I could have chosen not to do this, but then I would just be back at square one -  in a schamozzle.  And really, who wants that?

Think of it like this - you're kyaking down a river.  It's all smooth sailing until you get to some rapids where the water is disturbed, going in all sorts of directions, trying to 'get around' the obstacles in the way.  You also don't know if you're going to make it through the rapids or capsize and fall into the water and it all feels a bit kaotic! (or exciting for some... and that's ok too). Same goes with energy flow - it's a good idea to have it going smoothly so that life is free flowing and eeeeeeasy.

So, what will you CHOOSE to do today?  What might you choose to 'de-clutter' to create more flow in your life?
