About Me

Hi There! I'm Felicia. I'm a wife, a sister, a daughter, a friend, a mum-to-be, a career person and maybe some might say a entrepreneurial business owner. It’s no accident that I was named Felicia and many who know me would probably tell you I certainly live up to and OWN my name! My concept for this blog is as it says - "BEING" and "HAPPY" because when we are BEING or let things BE, then I would say we're generally pretty HAPPY :) and why not be happy with just being happy? LOVE THAT! I wanted to create a space for myself to be able to express freely and share with the world what inspires me and how I’ve come to create a continuous happy life for myself. You’ll probably learn a great deal about my own life as I blog! Life certainly isn’t perfect and I have for sure had my fair share of downs as well as ups. I do hope to share with you the joy of practising mindfulness, being grateful and loving to create more happiness and flow and perhaps inspire you too! Enjoy!

Your Happiness Requires No Excuses

If you don't already know this, I'm going to let you in on a little secret....Happiness is a CHOICE!

Yesterday, I went to mums n bubs yoga at Dharma Shala. It was amazing. Not only did my baby sleep through most of the class an hour and the class is only and hour 15mins!), which allowed me to have focus, intention and space for myself, I had the whole class just to myself!

Towards the end of the class, the yoga teacher read a paragraph from a book called, Buddhism for Mothers (I'm so going to read this!!). It totally spoke to me - show compassion towards self so that you can show compassion back into the world

I know, that when I'm my Best Self, I'm a
better person for everyone else. How about You? Is this true for you too? For the past three months I've been giving myself excuses not to continue with my regular meditation or yoga practice. These excuses didn't exactly lead me be my Ultimate HAPPY self (though the house looks much tidier!). I re-realised something. If it's important enough to me, I was going to make it work, somehow, no matter what. And so after that yoga session I finally saw that I have plenty of opportunities to meditate or do a 30min yoga-at-home session (now that my baby is 'growing up' and doing decent length day naps!). No more excuses.

What excuses are you giving yourself not to be TRUELY Happy? What's stopping you from doing the things that make you happy? Perhaps you're not making your Happiness as important to you as you thought?

When There's A Will, There's  a Way!

How surreal that when we TRUELY desire answers, the Universe will provide it for you. You just need to ask :)

Day 27: "30 Day Gratitude Challenge"

Day 27: Today I am grateful for my mum, for everything she's done for me in ally years of my life

The baby hasn't arrived yet, but with all the antenatal classes I've been attending, I've been learning how to cope with labour, what to do when the little human gets here, how to change a nappy, when, how and how often you might feed the munchkin etc etc.

All these things are great to know and a kickstart on how to be a good mother -  lessons I know I'm going to just have to work out along the way...but it's made me appreciate everything my mum had to go through when birthing me, bringing me up in this big world and the guidance and life lessons she's tried to teach me along the way. Of course she still likes to tell me how it's done or how I should do things...but then that's up to me whether or not I decide to take it on board or make my own decisions about it!

As we get older and we from our own lives with our own personalities and form our own beliefs, we may not agree to everything our mother or parents said but it's important to be grateful and appreciative for all that they've done and try to do.

We don't need to follow everything they say, but we probably need to be a little more understanding and know they have just come from a place of their own life lessons, beliefs, upbringing and ideas on 'life'.

Our mums (like soon-to-be-me!) aren't perfect, but they are good or great in so many ways!

How are you grateful for your mum?

Celebrate!

It was my mum's birthday on the weekend - Happy Birthday Mum!!

It reminded me about how much I love celebrating my birthday and birthdays in general - I mean, why wouldn't you want to celebrate the birth of your being? Your coming into this world? It's a special day to celebrate YOU!

So it made me think of celebration in general...

How often do you celebrate?  And I don't mean just a birthday or promotion. Do you ever stop to think, I'm going to take a moment and celebrate what I've achieved in my life over the years. Have you acknowledged and celebrated what you've ever done over the year?  or even in the past few months?

I've found for me, that when I stop to reflect, acknowledge and 'celebrate' what I've accomplished so far - there's a little wave of happiness, of contentment, of love and of my life that I've chosen to live it the way I want to live it.  Sometimes we get so busy of achieving, achieving, achieving, looking to gain the next step and then the next.  Then we might get frustrated about why we're not getting to our next goal, when sometimes, we need to just stop and celebrate a little for what we've already done.

It can be really simple.  Today, I'm going to celebrate this blog - my little space of 'personal space and inspiration'.  I had been thinking of wanting to do it for so long, then I finally did and then I shared it! WOW!!! What an impact it made for me.  And even today - I'm going to celebrate that I finally got around to setting up my facebook fanpage for my blog - it's finally done! I'm happy I've done it, I'm able to cross it off the "To-Do list" and be happy it's one less thing that my mind has to consider.

And since I'm pregnant, I unfortunately can't pop open the bottle of champagne - but that's my point.  Celebration doesn't mean you have to go out and party.  It's just a little something for you, to create a little more happiness in your life.

What are you going to celebrate in your life today?
